Shade-grown and hand-picked in a high altitude forest, our PNG beans are fermented to taste even smoother without a bitter aftertaste.
Growing up in a family dedicated to fermentation in Korea, I learned to embrace that “All good things take time to brew.” By inviting your beloved ritual into our immune-friendly culture, Imunika makes sure your coffee loves you back whole-bean-heartedly.
Our story began three generations ago with my grandmother who was a passionate fermentist. In our household, brewing mushrooms with exotic herbs or fermenting healthy eateries came naturally. In fact, fermentation culture or the healing potential of mushrooms has been cherished in Korea and around Asia for thousands of years.
Such a timeless appeal of the mushroom benefits may be due to a specific type of fiber in mushrooms called beta-glucan. Simply, it’s a soluble fiber that the healthy bacteria in our intestine system absolutely love to eat. As a reward for feeding these little microbes what they love, they pump out byproducts that support healthy cholesterol, sound blood sugar regulation, gut health, immune health, and much more.
However, health benefits mean nothing if your coffee tastes like mud water. Honestly, real coffee lovers wouldn’t compromise the flavor over health benefits. That’s why Imunika focuses on delivering a genuine specialty coffee experience.
It starts with sourcing certified organic shade-grown beans from high altitudes in Papua New Guinea. While taking longer to grow and yielding less volume, the beans contain less caffeine and come with a full-body flavor that is sweet and well-balanced, with a hint of chocolate, cherry, and plum.
Thanks to our microbial fermentation technique, Imunika acquires a particularly smooth flavor without a bitter aftertaste. Some say it is similar to Kopi Luwak, But, being more scientific and ethical, we ferment the beans with mushroom mycelium complex for weeks at our smart facility, not for just a day in a poor civet’s belly.
Finally, the processed beans are medium-light roasted at a small-batch roaster in Seattle, WA. Open our bag to smell the sweet aroma filling up the space. Our whole bean coffee brews perfectly for any methods of your preference.
Love yourself with Imunika today, because you are what you sip.
